Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your responsibilities associated with the rental. In any case of discrepancy between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Comber, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid, full driving licence is required, held for the minimum duration noted in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of address must be presented, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may apply as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- You can make reservations for vehicle hire via our website, by calling us, or by visiting our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle pickup, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed to document its status. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition it was received, with allowance for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please contact us as soon as possible if you foresee a delay. You will also be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that arise during the rental period, in addition to a handling fee.
Insurance and Liability Policies
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Details about coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are available to lower your financial liability. It is wise to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for supplementary insurance. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities. Prohibited uses include racing, rallying, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting to others, or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using the vehicle for purposes it was not designed for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside agreed geographical boundaries without permission are also not allowed.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Comber Car Hire assumes no responsibility for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is capped at the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
Updates to Terms
Comber reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
